Al’s Auto Sales LLC Sold me a truck they said was running well and a week later the entire electrical system went out AND the engine locked up. Arlington Texas!!. I went to see a 2001 GMC Sonoma that had been advertised but not sold for some months at Al’s. It had all the things my last Sonoma had on it and less miles and a few extras, and I bought it, signing an “as-is” contract but later finding out that the dealer had hidden certain things from me. He swore he had changed out the fuel pump to see if that would put out the low fuel light but it didn’t so he put the old one back, but neglected to hook up ground wire, yet did not tell me that. This is fraud. The oil dipstick was measuring halfway up the stick! This is far past the normal mark for the stick as anyone knows. It was the WRONG stick and WRONG dipstick tube. He was supposed to have checked this truck out. Now, either he did, or he didn’t. If he did, then he neglected to repair it and tell me about it, or he never checked it out and lied about checking it out. One or the other. The stick made it appear as if the engine was OVERfull on oil. There was a small oil leak underneath but very small and there was still oil in the engine when it locked up. It was also low on transmission fluid and PS fluid when I drove it off the lot. The tailgate would not open, nor the sliding window. He knew these things but did not divulge them, telling me everything worked on the truck. He lied, after telling me his father taught him not to lie. I only had this truck one week before the electrical system experienced total failure at the same moment that the engine locked up. When I contacted the dealer, Greg, his attitude was “Oh well, things break. I drove that truck 100 miles and it was fine.” He refuses to say if he did, or did NOT, go over this truck completely. Either way, he has engaged in fraudlent practices in selling this truck as “running fine”. He either knew about these problems and didn’t tell me, or he never went through the truck at all and just lied about everything being fine. Now I am out a few thousand more dollars to get the truck running and I am single and living on a fixed income.
