I am an owner of a motorhome left with Colorado Ride the West (CRW) in May of 2017 to be rented out. In August 2017 it sustained damage to two storage bins on the left side when a tire blew out. In May of 2018 I took out the unit for a short trip and the bins had not been replaced. The rear bumper was also damaged from backing into something and the bathroom door was damaged along the bottom, from an animal trying to scratch its way out. (Their rental agreement states NO PETS). | The sewer hose I had in the unit was gone and there was a short 5’ piece which is not long enough to use in a campsite. The surge protector was gone and they had also insisted the unit have a spare tire that they charge me for and it was not in the unit. The unit also had not been cleaned, the inside of the drawers were dirty and there was trash under the couch. | I also suspected they had shorted me on days for rentals in 2017 so I installed a GPS tracker. The unit was rented in August 2018 and taken to South Dakota, CRW shorted me five days on the rent and when I confronted CRW they finally paid me three days with some explanation that they don’t charge for the first and last day. | I notified them of the problems and they said they would make repairs. In August when repairs had not been made, they said they could not get the bins. I contacted a local motorhome collision repair facility and they called me back in 24 hours and said the manufacturer could sent them the bins. This was after CRW had “looked” for them for a year. CRW then ordered the bins through the collision center and yet February 15, 2019 when I picked up the motorhome, they had not been installed. I had to do it myself. | When I picked up the unit, the screen on the driver’s side window was broken which cost $105.18 to replace, the engine cover (dog house) was crushed which cost $824.73 to replace, the rear bumper was painted instead of powder coated which will cost $255.00 to have it sandblasted and powder coated. The water filter canister was also missing $19.10. | They also publish rental rates on their website, which is the amount I was expecting to receive. My unit was never rented for the published rate, according to the payments they sent me. Their explanation was that they have to discount due to the competition. This was not told me when I left it there. I asked for copies of rental agreements to make sure they were not shorting me and also copies of the insurance claim for the damages. | I also requested a copy of the Declarations page of the insurance policy that they charge you about $220.00 a month for. CRW refused to provide any of this documentation. I have no way of knowing if they are pocketing extra rental charges, money from insurance claims and if they even have insurance on the motorhome since they will not furnish documentation. | There was a missing 117 miles traveled between rental invoices sent to me. When I asked CRW about this Ron first stated this was for a promotion but then backtracked and said it was for taking it to Camping World for estimates and to the tire shop but could not provide estimates or invoices to document this. This was in the Fall of 2017 and it seem more plausible that this was a short rental that I was not reimbursed for. In my opinion this is a bad business and suggest you never do business with them. | In reviewing internet comments, in general, renters seem to love the experience with comments like checked in and on my way to the airport in 10 minutes. CRW can not be inspecting the motorhome thoroughly and have them out in 10 minutes. They do not appear to be holding renters accountable for damages caused. In general the comments, owners are upset with the condition of their units after being there and can get no response from CRW. | I pushed them hard for a response and got comments from Ronald Preeson, the owner, as follows: “Wine gets better with age. But you don’t its just lie after lie after lie. Your just an old bitter man with nothing to do but whine.” You can never talk to Ron the owner as he is not at the business, you must talk to his brother Wayne who will tell you he has no authority but will need to clear it with Ron. They will not give you Ron’s phone number and all Ron does is keep sending you scorching, insulting emails. Ron also told me I did not comply with the “Company Rules” when corresponding with CRW but when I asked for a copy of the rules, there were none. | MY RECOMMENDATION STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS, if not read all the reviews online and see if this is what you want to deal with.
